Biography

Lynette Robinson was a four-year starter for 220-student Annawan High School in the early one class system in Illinois.  She was a major reason Annawan was able to end the first state champion Sterling’s 42-game winning streak in the 1978 Sterling Sectional Tournament, 52-46, before nearly 5,000 fans.

She saw her high school career end in the East Moline Super-Sectional with a loss to Moline in overtime, 78-74.

Lynette set the school record for field goal percentage 71% in 1977-78, the career field goal percentage of 60.5%, the highest free throw percentage for a season, 81.5 % in 1977-78.  She made 19 free throws out of 26 against Western Community in 1977-78.  This is a record.

She set the Annawan mark for career rebounds, 568; rebounds in one game, 20 against Galesburg, 1977-78.  She also set the school’s highest career average scoring with 19.4 ppg.

Lynette lettered at Illinois four seasons, 1979-182, and became fourth on the Illinois career scoring list with 1,322 over 103 games for an average of 12.8 ppg.  She was the sixth best scoring season with 504 in 1981 for a 16.3 average. 

She set the Illinois single-season rebound mark of 335 in 1981 for a 10.8 rpg average.  Three of Lynette’s season rebounds totals are among the tops at Illinois.  She led the Illini in rebounds in 1981 and 1982 and became second on the career rebounding list with 896 for an 8.7 average.

She was named to the Cincinnati Invitational all-tourney team in 1978 and to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV team in 1982.
