Biography: Brad Richardson had an outstanding high school career at Olney High School from 1964-67. As a senior, he was a consensus all-state player. Brad scored 1,030 points and 628 points as a senior to set the single season scoring mark for the Tigers with a 23.3 ppg average. Richardson also was the rebound record holder at Olney. He shared the state record in high jump with Ben Gains of Evanston at 6’9 ¼” . His indoor jump of  6’9 ⅝” was the best in the nation for a prep at that time. As a result of his basketball prowess, he was named Athlete of the Year in Southern Illinois in 1967 and basketball player of the year in Southeastern Illinois. Richardson received a scholarship to the University of Illinois from Coach Harv Schmidt. A knee injury in 1970 ended his basketball career. While a member of the Illinios team, Richardson received the George Huff award for academic achievement by an Illini athlete.
