Biography: Bob Bone was a three-year starter for the Collinsville Kahoks before graduating in 1973. During his days as a Kahok, Bone played on two IHSA Regional and Sectional championship teams and two Elite Eight teams. Bone was named all-conference, all-state and all-state tournament as a senior and was also named MVP of the Carbondale Holiday Tournament. Bones is remembered as a strong fourth-quarter player, who helped the Kahoks pull out many close games at the finish. Bone was sensational as a player at the University of Missouri-St Louis, starting every game for four years. Three times Bone was named a NCAA Division II All-American, including first team honors in 1977 as a senior. Bone averaged 21 ppg as a freshman, 26 as a sophomore, 27 as a junior and 30 as a senior. No wonder Bone set nearly every offensive record at the school with 2,678 points. At the end of his senior year, Bone was selected to play in the National Basketball Coaches All-American game. Bone, a three-time academic All-American, received an NCAA postgraduate  scholarship. That makes Bone one of only a handful of players to be named first team All-American, academic All-American, and earn an NCAA postgraduate scholarship. Bone became  the head boys’ basketball coach at Collinsville.
