Biography:

Richard Hlavek retired in 2002 after 33 years of consecutive service to (Burbank) Reavis High School. He also coached at (Darien) Hinsdale South High School and (Elmhurst) York High School in a 46-year career. During his career at Reavis, Hlavek was totally involved and dedicated to the boys’ basketball program. He was the head coach for a total of 10 years during two different periods. He served as an assistant coach for 12 years.

Hlavek, a 1969 graduate and basketball standout at Northeast Missouri State University, also was an assistant coach/scorekeeper who provided valuable insights and ideas to the young athletes and coaches in the Reavis program. He was a role model for Reavis players and a mentor to the coaches. He worked tirelessly over this career for the betterment of Reavis basketball. 

Richard Hlavek died on February 3, 2021 at the age of 74.
