Biography: Bob Avery of Mattoon had a busy career.  He started at Onarga Military School and followed with stints at Arcola, Champaign Central, and Champaign Centennial along with Mattoon High Schools.  His teams won 300+ games, 18 tournaments, and 2 conference titles.  His 1964 Arcola team advanced to the IHSA Sweet Sixteen.  He coached the 1983 IBCA Class AA South All-Stars.  Bob served the IBCA in several roles including president.  Bob Avery died on October 8, 2019 at the age of 89.
