Biography: John Eugene Brodman compiled a 197-142 record from 1937-1955 at high schools in Summersville, Mo., and at Bluffs and Manito in Illinois. Brodman’s real mark came in the 18 seasons (1955-1974) he served as junior high coach at Virginia (IL). Brodman’s lightweight teams were 193-105 and twice advanced to the state tourney, finishing third in 1965. His heavyweight teams were 217-80, with four teams advancing to the state meet. John “Gene” Brodman was inducted to the IBCA Hall of Fame posthumously as he passed away on July 15, 1977 at the age of 68.
