Biography

Lynch, a 1908 graduate of Peoria High School (now Peoria Central HS), was one of the 100 Legends of IHSA Boys’ Basketball March Madness in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the state tournament. He scored 22 points in the state title game to lead Peoria past Rock Island..

Lynch was captain of the first IHSA state championship team.  Lynch was the only African-American to play for a state champion until 1949.  He was a four-sport athlete at Bradley University who also served our country during World War I.

Lynch Conway died on April 15, 1939 at the age of 51.
