Biography: When basketball fans in northern Illinois remember good basketball officials, the name of Don Davey of Peoria is sure to come up. Davey refereed many basketball games with fellow hall of famer, Ortho Kortz. Davey officiated in 15 IHSA Regionals, 7 IHSA Sectionals and in the last one-class state finals in Champaign. The following year Davey was again a floor official for the first IHSA Class AA tournament at The Assembly Hall. Davey was honored by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association as an official for the IBCA’s first all-star game. Davey has been one of the very good officials that northern Illinois has been blessed with.
