Biography:

Florian coached boys’ basketball for 37 years, the first six at Tovey Grade School and 31 at Stonington Junior High. He coached the seventh and eighth grade teams at Tovey from 1935-41 and the same grade levels at Stonington from 1941-73.

Florian, who was inducted posthumously, guided Tovey to the Illinois Elementary School Association state finals in 1936, 1937 and 1938. Seven of his Stonington teams reached the state finals, the first in  1949 and the last in 1969.
