Bailey and Gladys Elkins

Biography:  Bailey and Gladys Elkins attended Lincoln Railer basketball games for many years, before becoming involved in the Lincoln Basketball Booster Club in 1976-77 shortly after Loren Wallace became the head coach.  

The Elkins became fixtures in the booster club during the coaching regimes of Cal Hubbard and Neil Alexander.  Gladys Elkins served as president for several years.  After her presidencey, she served as the organization’s secretary.  Bailey served as a board member and their son, Stephen became a member of the board as well.  

 The Elkins donated so much of their time over these years due to their combined loves for kids and basketball.  Although none of their children were involved in the basketball programs, three of their grandchildren played for the Railers. 

The Linocln booster club developed an outstanding reputation in the central Illinois area.  This is largely due to the efforts of Bailey and Gladys.  They were proud to have been a part of the programs for so many years. 

Bailey Elkins died on August 27, 2013 at the age of 88.  Gladys died on March 1, 2020 at the age of 87.
