Biography:

By the time Gerald “Jed” Foster finished his high school career at Fairfield High School in 1969, he was in possession of every major single season and career scoring and rebounding record including: 1,707 career points, 727 points in a single season, 47 points in a single game, 932 career rebounds, 389 rebounds in a single season and 32 rebounds in a single game.  He was the North Egypt Conference scoring champion and player of the year in 1968 and 1969.  All-state and national honors streamed in after his Senior season with Jed being named to every Illinois All State team including the Associated Press, Chicago Daily News and Champaign Gazette teams.  Additionally, he was named to the 1969 Sunkist High School All-American team.  Fairfield High School retired his jersey #44 in recognition of his tremendous career accomplishments.  

At the conclusion of his Senior season, Jed chose the University of Illinois to play collegiately where he was named co-captain of the Fighting Illini Freshman team with future Illini All-Century player Nick Weatherspoon.  Jed finished as a three- year varsity letter winner for Harv Schmidt’s Illinois teams in 1971-1973.  He is the father of 2020 IBCA Hall of Fame player inductee, Brian Foster.
