Biography

Lee Hall, who broadcast the boys and girls state tournaments on television, says he got his introduction to the schoolboy games as a 10-year old. “I sat with my mother and watched her old high school, Ridgway (32-1), and coach Bob Dallas become the second IHSA state Class A champion.

“That’s what whet my appetite for imitating (Lawrenceville star) Jay Shidler out on the driveway and why doing the tournaments (starting in 1994) and Bradley University basketball (starting in 1987) meant so much to me.” Hall started as an intern at WEEK-TV in 1985 and three years later was promoted to sports director. He was a fixture in Peoria sports television for over 33 years.

Hall is a graduate of (Peoria) Spalding Institute, where he was the baseball team’s co-captain with major-league catcher and manager Joe Girardi. Lee graduated from Illinois State University where he was chosen as the outstanding senior in broadcasting in 1981.

In 1993, Hall was awarded the Illinois Broadcasters Association award for best TV sportscast. In 1997, he received the Associated Press award for the best sports report. He also did IHSA-TV broadcasts for football, softball, baseball and track and field and began working as the Bradley PA announcer in 2022.
