Biography: Willie (better known as “Smiley”), was a vice president of the Metro East Officials Association for many years.  His primary assignments were in helping young officials in rules knowledge, the official’s uniform and comportment with coaches and fans.  Willie spent countless hours fielding rules questions and ensuring that young officials used proper IHSA mechanics.  He was an official himself for 37 seasons.
