Biography: Lawrence “Fats” Johnston was a volunteer basketball timer at the old Kankakee HS and then at Eastridge HS beginning in 1936.  During this time, he has been the timer for all regular season games, holiday tournament games and IHSA games at Kankakee.  With Lloyd Elston, he helped organize the Raider Aiders of Eastridge HS, a group of volunteer workers who help in the administration of all home games.  At the time of his induction in 1974, “Fats” was the chairman of that organization.
