Biography: Harvey Duck covered high school basketball consistently for the Chicago Daily News from 1957 through 1969. During that period, Harvey guided the all-state board for the paper. He claimed to be the only prep sports writer in the state to correctly predict (Chicago) Marshall High School’s 1958 IHSA State Championship. Duck was honored by the Chicago Newspaper Guild with its “Stick O’Type” Award for his state high school coverage in 1962. Harvey passed away on March 22, 2005 at the age of 80.
