Biography: The outstanding basketball player of the Bloomington area in the early 1940’s was Dick Lenahan of Bloomington Trinity High School (now Central Catholic). Lenahan averaged 17 ppg as a prep and in 1944 was named to all-state teams selected by the Champaign News-Gazette and the Chicago Herald-American. In addition, he was named to Illinois South All-Star squad. Lenahan played two seasons of service basketball besides playing at St. Ambrose College under Johnny Jordan. Dick Lenahan passed away on July 19, 2012.
