Biography: At (Westchester) St. Joseph High, Brian played for Hall of Fame Coach Gene Pingatore (IBCA inductee in 1987). He was the team captain, First-Team All-East Suburban Catholic Conference, ESCC MVP, Suburban Life Senior Player of Year, First-Team Chicago Sun-Times All-Area and All-State, First-Team Chicago Tribune All-Area and Second-Team All-State, Top 40 state prospect, IBCA Class AA All-Star Game as senior. Brian scored 576 points for 18.6 ppg. average on 28-3 state Class AA third-place unit as senior after averaging 10.0 ppg. on a 29-2 club as junior (later the record was restored to 30-1 after a loss to Romeoville HS was reversed by forfeit). Brian moved west to The University of Colorado where he lettered twice for head coach Tom Miller (1987-89). He played in 52 games for the Buffalos. He set school records for single-season three-pointers (26) and three-point attempts (63). (1988-89). Brian transferred to Northern Illinois University for his final two seasons. He scored 621 points, grabbed 260 rebounds, gave 83 assists, and snared 62 steals in 57 NIU appearances. Brian was a key reserve on 25-6 NCAA Tournament year in which he led the Huskies in scoring (16.3 ppg. / 423 points in 26 games), rebounding (6.7 rbpg. / 175 boards in 26 games), and free throw percentage (.796) as a senior (1991-92). Brian is a member of the St. Joseph HS Sports Hall of Fame and the NIU Athletics Hall of Fame.
