Biography: Maria set 6 school records while playing for (Peru) St. Bede Academy where she became the career scorer with 1,453 points.  This was the best in school history for boys’ or girls’ basketball.  She scored 632 points as a senior in 1994 and had a career average of 19.4 ppg.  Maria went on to become a two-time team MVP and all-conference selection at Illinois Valley Community College where she averaged 14.6 ppg along with 8.0 rpg.  Although injuries prevented her from continuing her career at Bradley University, she stayed connected to the game by being the team manager for the Braves.
