Biography: Skip Thoren was an outstanding all-state player from (Rockford) East HS.  He led his team to the state tournament in 1962 before moving on to the University of Illinois.  Skip had a great career at U of I as an outstanding shooter and a fine defensive big man.  In 2004, Skip was selected by the university as a member of the “all century” team for the 1900’s.  After college graduation, Skip played 3 years in the ABA with the Minnesota Muskies and the Miami Floridians.  In 1969 he was an ABA all-star player.  He ended his career with several seasons in the European league.
