Biography: The 1936 team was the second state championship for Coach Gay Kintner. They had a very common 14-11 regular season record, including 5 losses in their last 6 regular season games. They lost their last regular season game with Edwardsville 37-25. They then proceeded to win the state basketball tournament, ending the season with a 24-11 record. The Reds were led by Dean Butts and Ken Park.
