Biography:  The Granite CIty “Warriors” were coached by Byron Bozarth and assisted by Leonard Davis. They were led by All-Stater Andy Phillips who later became one of the University of Illinois’ famous “Whiz Kids.”The Warriors were the rare school in Illinois history that won the state championship after being the regional runner-up under the format that was used by the IHSA at that time.
