Biography:

Teutopolis became the first team in the history of IHSA girls’ basketball to win three consecutive state titles in 1990. They finished with a 32-1 record and a final regular-season state ranking of No. 3 in the Associated Press Class A poll. Led by seniors Vicky Klingler, an all-state selection, Jennifer Hoedebecke, Donna Ruholl and Kim Deters, they were part of 120 victories and only 4 losses in their varsity careers.

They won by pulling for each other, playing hard and playing smart. This team won games because they were good at reading what the opponent’s strengths and weaknesses were. All four seniors were also in the school’s Top 10 academically and their court sense was unreal. During this run of state championships, the Lady Wooden Shoes never lost to a Class A team.

Klingler was named first-team all-tourney in the state tournament. Teutopolis got a 42-41 scare from Sullivan in the supersectional but rolled from there as Klingler had 27 points and 7 rebounds in the quarterfinals and 14 points and 8 rebounds in the semifinals. The Lady Wooden Shoes beat Nashville 62-29 for the title as Klingler had 18, Tebbe 14 points and 8 rebounds and Hoedebecke 12 points.
