Morton was one of the finest teams ever to represent Illinois in the national playoffs. A team with great size and excellent guard play, Morton’s style of play was years ahead of its time. Morton defeated Batesville, Arkansas in the championship game. Interestingly, at the state level, Morton was a district champion who got upset in the Regional but went on to win the national title.
