Biography: They retired Dan Imming’s No. 40 when he graduated from Aviston High School (now Breese Central). From 1966 to 1969, Imming started all four years and scored 2,384 career points (Note: The 3 point line had not entered high school basketball in this era). As a junior he was a Chicago All-American, Little All-State selection, as well as all MSM Conference. Imming repeated those honors as a senior and was named to the Prep Sports Special’s all-state team and to third team berths on the AP and UPI teams. He was all-Metro East (St Louis Globe-Democrat) as well as all-Wesclin Tournament and Worden Christmas Tournament. Imming had yearly scoring averages of 11.7 ppg as a freshman, 26.2 ppg as a sophomore, 18.5 ppg as a junior and 31.9ppg as a senior. Imming set nine basketball records at Aviston, including single game scoring- 53 and season scoring – 797. Imming played four seasons at Tulane University after graduating from high school as class valedictorian.
