Biography: For the 28 years leading to his induction, Eddie Kemper chronicled the peaks and valleys of the Nashville High School Hornets. His efforts for the Nashville News not only includes high school, but also the grade schools. Kemper’s top thrill as a writer came as he covered Nashville’s 1978 IHSA Class A Boys’ State Championship. Just a shadow behind, according to Kemper, was viewing the Okawville Rockets’ second place finish to Venice in 1986. Kemper says he wouldn’t trade anything for the fellowship he enjoyed with coaches Bob Bogle, Dave Luechtefeld, Dick Corn, Don Hawkins and Dick Ruggles. Kemper feels old Ben Franklin said it best when he offered this challenge he still uses: “If you wish not to be forgotten, When you are dead and rotten, Write something worth reading, Or do the things worth writing!” Ed Kemper died on June 1, 2008 at the age of 83.
