Biography: Melvin E. Kuhlman is well-known around the Payson community for more than 30 years of softball playing. But he is just as identifiable for running the clock and score panel for Payson-Seymour’s basketball teams. He has served in that capacity for 19 years. Many times Mel Kuhlman left his job early to keep the clock for early games for both the high school and junior high school. That included the regular season and tournaments. In that time, he has missed only a couple of games. There has only been one Class A state tournament Kuhlman has missed in that timespan. Kuhlman has served many civic and church groups in his community, and throughout all the years, he’s never accepted pay for the activities. Paysin certainly has a friend of basketball in Melvin Kuhlman.  Melvin Kuhlman died on May 13, 2017 at the age of 83.
