Biography: Nora Lewis dominated girls’ basketball in Illinois while attending (Peoria) Richwoods High School. Four times, she was named all-state, all-Mid-State 10 and Dixon Holiday Tournament. Lewis played on the 1981-85 Varsity teams at Richwoods. Only as a freshman did her team not reach the state tournament. But when Lewis and Richwoods started a three-year run, she was dominating. She set the career state tourney scoring record of 236 points. Her Richwoods teams were 32-0 in 1983, when they claimed the state title, and 32-1 in 1984 and 1985, when they settled for second and third. All three years Lewis was named to the all-tournament team. In 1984 and 1985 she was an Adidas, USA Today and Parade All-American. In 1985, she was USA Today , Parade and Street & Smith and Converse Player of the Year. She became the Illinois all time leading scorer with 3,314 career points. At Louisiana Tech, Lewis played four years on teams compiling a 120-15 record and racing to the regional finals in 1986, the national finals in 1987, were national champions in 1998 and a member of the Final Four in 1989. She was named a Kodak All-American in the 1988-89 season.
