Biography:

John Lyles spent 28 years coaching in the Chicago Public League. He coached at Harrison High School from 1967-79. After leaving Harrison he went to Marshall as an assistant from 1983-89. Lyles was known for taking extra time with Marshall athletes and emphasizing the importance of academic achievement while excelling in athletics. For many years he was also an integral part of the Public League Hall of Fame Committee.
