Biography:

Dennis Schickedanz was a super fan, having traveled around the state to watch 100 or more games a year since 1976. He started the Basketball Superfan Shootout in 1987 after watching the 7-Up Shootout in St. Louis. He helped make the three-man officiating crews popular by using them in his shootouts. Over 40 high schools have played host to Superfan events in three different states and more than 200 teams from four different states have played in his shootouts.  Dennis Schickedanz died on February 10, 2024 at the age of 77.  He had attended his final game the previous night.
