Biography:

Barry was a sports journalist for the Tribune company from 1976 to 2008. He began at the Suburban Trib, covering small college basketball and writing features, before moving to the Chicago Tribune in 1983.

Barry was the paper’s prep sports editor from 1986-88, followed by 20 years as prep sports columnist. Much of his work involved boys’ and girls’ basketball, including nearly 40 state finals. He won writing awards in the Associated Press Sports Editors national contest.
