Biography: W.O. “Bud” Turner had been a supporter and contributor to Monticello High School basketball and sports for more than 30 years at the time of his induction. Turner served as scorer for the grade school teams from 1956-58. Beginning in 1958, Bud Turner served as the scorer for all Monticello basketball games, home and away. That stacks up to more than 800 games. He also served concurrently as timer for the varsity football games. During the 1969-70-71 seasons, Turner served the University of Illinois as official scorer. In 1978 he served as official scorer for the Class A IHSA state tournament, after serving as an assistant the previous season. The coaching staff, administration and Board of Education in Monticello recognized Turner in 1989 with a special award for his service to the school’s athletic programs. Turner always had a positive and professional attitude in serving Monticello. It is believed that Bud Turner died a few years ago.
