Biography: Gib Uphoff was a basketball player at Findley High School, graduating in 1932. Four of his children and four of his grandchildren have also graduated from Findley. Five of them have played basketball for Findley. In 1948, Uphoff began his duties as basketball scorekeeper when Leland Davis was the basketball coach. There have been nine other basketball coaches from 1948-1988, but only one scorekeeper – Uphoff.  He retired after the 1988 season. Uphoff also helped at the junior high school when needed. A member of the school board for many years, Uphoff was always a strong supporter of all athletic and academic functions. It seems anytime the doors of Findley High School are open, you would find Uphoff there. Whenever there was a school tax referendum, Uphoff worked hard for it. Uphoff was active in his church and with the 4-H Club in Findley. Many times Uphoff fed the team after a game and after the season. Uphoff has served as emcee at the Findley athletic banquets for many years as well.  Gib Uphoff died on November 13, 1995 at the age of 80.
