Biography: Helen Wolber came to Mouth Carroll as a kindergarten teacher in the fall of 1953 after graduating from Polo High School and The University of Wisconsin–Platteville.  She immediately became involved in the Hawks’ boys’ basketball program by chaperoning the fan bus.  She substituted as a ticket seller or ticket taker beginning in 1959.  Along the way, she added selling tickets for Junior High and High School girls’ volleyball and girls’ basketball games. 

She feels very dedicated as she devoted as many as 4 nights each week during the seasons to helping the teams.  On January 8, 1999, the Mount Carroll school board honored her at half time of the boys’ basketball game.  This followed the April 12, 1997 ceremony when Helen was inducted into the Shoot the Bull Hall of Fame. 

Helen says that her love of basketball and for youth kept her dedicated to the programs.  Helen was considered a valuable element of the Mount Carroll sports program for nearly half a century.  Helen Wolber died on October 10, 2018 at the age of 86.
