Biography: Edward L. Woods toiled for 19 years as a high school basketball coach—Lebanon High School for 6 years; St. Genevieve High School for 3 years; North Chicago High School for 5 years; and Joliet High School for 5 years. The O’Fallon High School graduate compiled a 284-198 record before entering school administration. His teams claimed three IHSA Regional championships, three IHSA Sectional titles, and one IHSA Super-sectional appearance along with two conference crowns. Ed’s coaching career was cut short due to health issues, so he entered the administrative field. He became the superintendent at Melrose-Mendota area schools in Wisconsin. He also owned and operated an apple orchard in that area. Edward died in 1993.
