Biography:
Tom Zurkammer was a basketball standout in Lincoln (IL) High School. Not only did Zurkammer average 12.5 ppg as a junior, in his second season as a varisty player, Tom boosted that average to 16.7 ppg as a senior.
Tom was a freshman reserve at Lincoln College in 1961-62. In his sophomore season, his scoring average blossomed from 3.9 to 23.4 ppg. Both of his Lynx teams played in regional championship games. Tom played his final 2 seasons at MacMurray College. He averaged 5.7 ppg as a junior before it jumped to 18.5 ppg as a senior in 1964-65. Tom scored 38 points against the University of Missouri-Rolla. He shot 79.5 % from the free throw line as a senior and contributed 131 rebounds. For his collegiate career, Tom scored 1,303 points. He was named NAIA District 20 2nd team as a senior.
After his playing career, Tom coached for 3 seasons at Lincoln College, compiling a 42-39 record.
