Biography:

This is the story of the “Rock Island Line,” a line of five tremendous Rock Island High School fans. Paul and Marilyn Wendland began on the Rock Island High School Booster Club Board of Directors in 1974. They first bought their season tickets in 1951. Paul was the scorekeeper for out of town games, missing only 2 in the last 18 years, leading to their inductions.

Dick and Elaine Black joined “the Line” a few years later as this group formed a friendship that revolved around Rock Island basketball. 

Carl “Zeke” Zwicker was the other member of the “Line”.  He worked in various support roles from scoreboard operator to booster club member.  Carl Zwicker died on November 28, 2004 at the age of 83.

Rock Island fans must fall in behind the “Rock Island Line” when it comes to personal support of Rock’s basketball.  Their legacies are still felt today.
