Biography: Ernie Cameron spent a total of 26 years coaching basketball, 25 as an assistant.  He was a junior high school principal at Glenside Junior High School and later assistant superintendent in District 16.  Yet he still found time to coach basketball.  His coaching career mirrored Lee Maciejewski.  Lee calls him “the best assistant coach I have ever been associated with.  While I am now an assistant coach (myself), I try to model myself after Ernie.”  Additionally, Ernie was a highly respected friend to many of the coaches at DuPage County Schools.  As an example, when a local team lost use of their gym after winning a regional, Ernie stepped forward and arranged for the team to practice at his school’s gym through their run to the super-sectional.  His school also hosted regular clinics and educational opportunities for his students.
