Biography: Melvin averaged 15.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5.2 blocked shots at Thornton High School. He was a McDonald’s All-American and the Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year as a senior. He led Thornton to second place in the Class AA state tournament in 1995 and 1996 and third in 1997.  Melvin played at Fresno State University and led the Bulldogs to two NCAA Tournament teams in 2000 and 2001, earning conference Player of the Year honors in both 2001 and 2002. He later played for five teams in the NBA from 2002- 2014.  In 2017, Melvin was inducted into the Fresno State Hall of Fame.
