Biography: Sam Miranda was the first all state player from Collinsville HS in 1948.  Sam went on to the Indiana University where he was a 2nd team All Big Ten in 1951.  In 1952, he played on the college All American tour against the Harlem Globetrotters.  Sam went on to coach at Kankakee HS and then to the college ranks as an assistant coach at the University of New Mexico and the University of Kansas.  At the collegiate level Sam’s input was obvious by the success of these programs when he was on the staff.  Sam Miranda passed away on May 28, 2009.
