Biography: Blaine was an all-Upstate 8 Conference player at Elgin Larkin High School, where he also was co-captain and co-MVP his senior year in 1964-65. He walked on at Illinois State, which did not offer scholarships at the time.  Blaine became a star for the Redbirds, earning letters all four years and being named an All-American as a senior in 1969. He played on three straight conference championship teams and was named the MVP of the 1969 NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
