Biography:

Cappie was a three-time first-team all-state player at (Chicago) Marshall High School, playing for IBCA Hall of Fame Coach Dorothy Gaters.  Cappie helped lead her team to the 1999 IHSA state championship. She moved on to star at Rutgers University, where she played for another legendary coach, C. Vivian Stringer.  The Scarlett Knights went 97-22 in her time there. Rutgers won two Big East titles, earned four NCAA bids and reached the Elite Eight in 2005.

Cappie was the No. 2 pick of the 2006 WNBA draft and led the Phoenix Mercury to the WNBA title in 2007. She was Finals MVP and a year later helped Team USA win the 2008 Olympic gold medal.
