Biography:

Bernie was the athletic director at (Hillside) Proviso West High School from 1961-96 and was tournament manager of the Proviso West Holiday Tournament for those 35 years. He helped it grow from a fledgling eight-team event in 1961 to a tournament that attracted powerhouse teams and players.

In Bernie’s time as manager, the Proviso West Holiday Tournament produced 21 alumni who went on to play professionally in the NBA or ABA. Bernie played college basketball for Ray Meyer at DePaul.
